Tarash upazila in the war of liberation

On the eve of President Ayub Khan's black decade, the people of East Pakistan were ready to face deprivation and oppression. After the fall of Ayub Khan, Sheikh Mujib was acquitted of Yahya's ascension to power. Yahya announces mass vote. It is difficult to explain to the present generation the extent to which the movement was gaining momentum in Tarash police station under the leadership of the All-Party Student Struggle Council. M.M. was one of the leaders of the movement of thousands of students at that time. Amjad Hossain Milon, Dr. Hossain Munsur, Prof. Fazlar Rahman, Advocate Ataur Rahman, Amjad Hossain Sarkar, Prof. Fazlu Mia, Prof. Moslem Uddin, M. Mubarak Hossain, Md. Habibur Rahman Tarashi, Md. Afzal Hossain, Advocate Mahasin Ali, Mir Salam and many others. After the election of 1970, the Awami League gained a single majority in the whole of Pakistan. Among them, Bangabandhu's historic speech on March 7, 1971, in preparation for the war of liberation. The training started locally by assembling 108 civil guns (guns) of the police station under the leadership of the then student leaders of Tarash police station whose names were mentioned earlier. Initially those who trained the weapons of the freedom fighters at that time were Gazi Abdur Rahman Miah, Gazi M. Mubarak Hossain, Gazi Abdul Basheed, Shahid Osman Gani and some policemen including 303 rifles of the police station.

        Then the night of March 25th. Arbitrary massacre, refugees leaving the city in groups. The freedom fighters of the then trained Tarash police station, with the help of the people, have arranged accommodation and food for thousands of refugees who have migrated to other places including India through Tarash. Besides, training activities are in full swing. About 70 freedom fighters from Tarash took part in the Baghabari and Ullapara protection attacks on the Bogra bull market till the occupation of Tarash by the Paki army. From March to April 26, Tarash was free from Paki aggression. On 26th April, 1971, the fall ghats of Tarash were captured by the Paki army and a massacre was carried out. Among them were teachers Mahaday Babu, Sachin Ghosh, Hira Lal Goswami, Chuna Lal Goswami, Dinesh Chandra Singh and many others who were martyred.

With the fall of Tarash, M.M. Led by Amjad Hossain Milon, Md. Afzal Hossain, Abdus Sobahan, Amiruzzaman Khokon, Arshedul Islam, he went to India with the refugees of Tarash Police Station for higher training.

Md. Ataur Rahman, Abdur Rahman Mia, M. Mubarak Hossain organized other freedom fighters and started secret training locally in Naogaon area.

        Meanwhile, a total of seven members including Sohrap Hossain Sarkar, student leader Bimal Babu, Abdul Aziz Sarkar, Abdul Aziz Mirza, Lutfar Rahman (Arun) led by Tukhor student leader Abdul Latif Mirza of Sirajganj district have been trained to collect weapons and conduct 'Palashdanga Youth Camp'. The second phase of the liberation war began.

        All the freedom fighters of Tarash Upazila who did not go to India joined the Palashdanga Youth Camp led by Abdul Latif Mirza, attacked the then Razakar camp, collected arms and captured Tarash Thana, seized arms and ammunition, Bastal operation, Gurudaspur Kachikata and Bhangura operations.

The freedom fighters of Tarash, who were on their way to India, entered Bangladesh after higher training and entered the "Palashdanga Youth Camp" conducted by Abdul Latif Mirza with arms and ammunition mines and explosives. Amjad Hossain Milon and Md. Afzal Hossain joined in the leadership of Md. Arshedul Islam. Scott Khairuzzaman Gedu Miah, an India trainee from Chat Mohar, and Md. Abdul Latif Mirza, led by Md. Golzar Hossain, joined the camp. The number of freedom fighters in the "Palash Danga Youth Camp", including locally trained freedom fighters and trained freedom fighters from India and a total of 40 soldiers from the Bengal Regiment, EPR, Air Force and Navy, then crossed 450. After receiving arms, ammunition, and ammunition, almost every night one or another razakar camp continues to collect weapons. The actual number of freedom fighters of Tarash police station of "Palash Danga Youth Camp" was 61. Many went to India for training and before they could return, the country was liberated.

       Among the freedom fighters of Tarash police station of Palash Danga youth camp who served as commanders at different levels was Gazi M.M. Amjad Hossain Milon, Co-Commander, Abdur Rahman Miah, Platoon Commander and Trainer Platoon Commander and others who were Mr. Abdul Basheed, Md. Jinnah.

Section Commanders who were Gazi Afzal Hossain, Gazi Amiruzzaman (Khokon), Gazi Mubarak Hossain, Gazi Ataur Rahman, Gazi Wazed Ali Azad, Gazi Abdus Sobhan with a team after training in India continued the war of liberation in Chatmohar area of ​​Pabna district.

Gazi Siraj Uddin Khan, a doctor of Tarash police station, used to treat the freedom fighters with his own medicine and used to take part in the war.

        Then the freedom fighters of Tarash police station took part in the guerrilla warfare and frontal warfare as the freedom fighters of Palash Danga youth camp.
